Strike Preparation Training

Your Bargaining Committee has partnered with the CUPE Education department to offer Health Care Sector Strike Preparation Training to all Extendicare workers. While the idea of a strike may sound alarming or unexpected, it’s important to begin these basic conversations now.

Please understand that this is not an indication that we are heading into a strike position with Extendicare. Rather, it’s a proactive step in light of the challenges Healthcare unions are currently facing at the bargaining tables. Preparing for a potential strike is not something that happens overnight, but starting these conversations now is crucial for workers’ understanding and readiness.

To help facilitate this, we are offering two identical virtual sessions on August 11th. The goal of these sessions is to help break the ice and guide members through the fundamental aspects of strike preparation.  A strike threat is a powerful tool at the bargaining table.

You will need to register in order to attend.

Thank a Bargaining Committee Member

The members on your bargaining committee work together like a well oiled machine.  If you pass by someone from the committee, be sure to thank them for their hard work and dedication to negotiating the best collective agreement they can.

They can’t do this without your help!!  Ask the team member at your site how you can help.  Showing the employer that you support the bargaining committee is the first step.

Welcome to the NEW Local 3174

The CUPE NATIONAL Executive Board approved a merger of 4 CUPE Extendicare locals in to one brand new Local 3174.  We are all looking forward to working together as a team.

Possibly two more locals to join us!!
